Chairman if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has promised professional printers in the country that the commission would explore areas to utilize their services preparatory to the 2019 general elections.
Yakubu made this promise in a press statement released through his chief press secretary, Rotimi Oyekanmi, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
Yakubu recalled that INEC had been partnering indigenous printers, saying that all printings for the 167 elections conducted since November, 2015 were undertaken by indigenous printers.
“None was contracted to foreign companies. If you did not have the capacity, we wouldn’t have worked closely with you on 167 occasions in the last one year,” Yakubu said.
The INEC boss was debunking a report credited to the commission, where it berated indigenous printers for lacking the capacity to deliver.
